Passenger access control in mass transit for immigration access control: Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport

by Admin on

Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport is located in the Palmaseca district of the municipality of Palmira, Valle del Cauca. Currently, this airport ranks second among the most important airports in Colombia, receiving approximately 124 flights per day, with daily passenger traffic easily exceeding 20,000, including both domestic and international travelers.

This high volume of travelers makes the use of automated walkways a way to streamline immigration processes through iris scanning. To facilitate these processes, Incomelec supplied and implemented the Biomig system. Thanks to this system, immigration processes take less than a minute. The system, using automated walkways with iris scanners, scans and identifies the passenger, their origin, and their immigration information. The iris recognition system has a very low false acceptance rate (FAR), making it one of the most secure technologies in the world.

This process takes between 20 and 50 seconds, and once the immigration process is complete, the Incomelec motorized walkway allows the passenger to proceed. Thanks to the implementation of the BIOMIG system, there has been a reduction in immigration waiting times.

We know that the entry and exit processes at airports can be lengthy and tedious, often requiring limited patience. Thanks to the supply and installation of the Biomig system by Incomelec, this procedure is now completed in less than a minute, resulting in a significant improvement at Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport.
