Eastern Tunnel: Automatic Systems Barriers BL229—Toll

The Eastern Tunnel is a mega-project framed within the "Antioquia Thinks Big" Development Plan, as it connects the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Area with the San Nicolás Valley. These two regions are of great importance to the department of Antioquia, boasting significant industrial, tourism, environmental, and transportation activity. To effectively control the passage of all types of vehicles, BL-229 barriers were installed in the tunnel.

The project is a megaproject that translates into development and well-being, with an investment of nearly one trillion pesos. It is a benchmark for connectivity and progress, reducing travel times by half by facilitating connections between Medellín and the José María Córdova Airport, and similarly, with the rest of the country and even the world.

Incomelec's equipment is present in this major project. Automatic Systems BL-229 toll barriers were installed at the toll plazas along this tunnel. These barriers were specifically designed to ensure the highway toll plazas can handle the high volume of both light and heavy vehicles. The equipment meets the industry's demanding requirements in terms of performance, reliability, robustness, adaptability, and reduced maintenance.

The barriers installed in the tunnel also include a detachable boom to prevent damage to the barrier in case of impact against the boom. They also have a frequency converter, which guarantees progressive acceleration and gradual deceleration, for vibration-free movement and greater protection of the mechanism.
