Access control for passengers, emigration at El Dorado International Airport with the BIOMIG hybrid system.
El Dorado International Airport has taken a significant step toward modernization and improving the traveler experience with the installation of 15 biometric walkways, known as Biomig. This innovative access control solution is designed to serve both Colombians and foreigners, ensuring a fast, efficient, and secure immigration process.
The story of Incomelec and El Dorado Airport implementing biometric walkways began in 2019, when the solution for Colombian passengers entering the airport was integrated using electronic walkways equipped with iris biometric technology. This technology allows for accurate and rapid identification, streamlining the entry process for domestic passengers.
That same year, the existing system was upgraded to also include Colombian passengers departing, thus expanding the coverage and utility of these biometric walkways.
In 2023, a further step was taken with the installation of five new biometric walkways for international departures of foreign passengers. This new solution not only incorporated iris biometrics but also included facial recognition, further enhancing the security and efficiency of the immigration process.
Due to the increasing passenger flow at El Dorado Airport, 15 additional walkways were integrated in 2023, unifying the system for both Colombian and foreign passengers. This comprehensive solution includes advanced biometric validation systems, both iris and facial recognition, as well as document readers that verify document authenticity. This multifaceted approach ensures a smooth immigration process, reducing wait times and improving the user experience.
The implementation of biometric walkways is not limited to El Dorado Airport. Currently, more than seven airports in Colombia have Incomelec walkways integrated with Biomig. These walkways have been continuously expanded, demonstrating the effectiveness and acceptance of this technology in the country.
Incomelec has been a key player in these projects, supplying the necessary equipment and actively participating in major initiatives at El Dorado International Airport. Its experience and commitment to technological innovation have been fundamental to the success of these projects.
The integration of biometric walkways at El Dorado International Airport represents a significant advancement in airport passenger access control solutions. With the unification of the system for Colombians and foreigners, and the incorporation of advanced biometric validation technology, El Dorado positions itself as a leader in efficiency and immigration security in the region.
