Tunja Terminal - Automatic Doors

Tunja is the capital of the department of Boyacá, one of the most important departments in Colombia. The city's first transportation terminal was inaugurated in 1965; at the time, it was considered too large for the department's transportation needs. In the second decade of the new millennium, with the city's rapid population and economic growth, the need to develop and build a more modern terminal to meet the department's transportation supply and demand became evident.

The construction of a new terminal became a necessity. In 2017, the Governor's Office invested over 60 billion pesos to build a terminal that would guarantee efficient, safe, and controlled transportation services. To achieve this, technologies were implemented to improve the experience for all travelers. This project is characterized by its modern physical infrastructure, which ensures the bioclimatic sustainability of the entire site. It is unique in its class due to its singular architecture, which includes numerous curves and irregular openings. One of the main challenges of this project was aligning the highest quality suppliers to implement the best solutions for this complex and unique architecture.

Incomelec was selected to supply and install the automatic doors that control passenger entry and exit. Ten Record brand automatic doors, of Swiss origin, were installed, capable of handling large volumes of people. These doors receive and move more than one million people annually.

The most interesting aspect and the main challenge of this project was the perfect installation of the doors, taking into account the architecture and shape of the space. To achieve this, the doors were custom-made.
